How I Connected a Custom Domain to My Blogger Blog
Hello everyone!
Welcome to my blog Cyber Supto. I'm Supto, and here I share guides about blogging, technology, and useful internet tools.
If you are currently reading this on cybersupto.blogspot.com, you already know that Blogger is one of the easiest platforms for beginners to start a blog. It is free, simple to use, and maintained by Google.
When I first started blogging, I also used the default Blogger domain. It worked fine, but it didn't look very professional. After researching more about blogging and Google AdSense, I realized that using a custom domain can make a huge difference.
So in this guide on Cyber Supto, I will explain exactly how I connected a custom domain to my Blogger blog step by step.
Why I Switched to a Custom Domain
By default, Blogger gives you a free domain that looks like this:
Free Blogger Address
yourblog.blogspot.com
But with a custom domain, your blog looks like a real website:
Custom Domain Example
yourblog.com
Here are some reasons why I decided to switch:
- Your website looks more professional
- Visitors trust your blog more
- It improves your blog branding
- Higher chance of getting Google AdSense approval
- Better long-term SEO growth

Step 1: Open Blogger Settings
First, log in to your Blogger Dashboard.
- Go to Blogger Dashboard
- Click Settings
- Scroll to the Publishing section
- Click Custom Domain
Now enter your domain name like this:
Example
www.yourdomain.com
Click Save. Blogger may show an error at first. Don't worry, because we still need to configure DNS records.
Step 2: Copy the CNAME Records from Blogger
After clicking save, Blogger will give you two CNAME records. These records help verify your domain ownership.
CNAME Record 1
Name: www Target: ghs.google.com
CNAME Record 2
Name: abcd1234 Target: gv-xyz.dv.googlehosted.com
You must add these records inside your domain DNS settings.

Step 3: Add CNAME Records in Your Domain DNS
Next, login to your domain provider and open the DNS Management panel.
Add the following records:
First CNAME Record
Type: CNAME Name: www Target: ghs.google.com
Second CNAME Record
Type: CNAME Name: random-code Target: gv-xyz.dv.googlehosted.com
These records allow your domain to connect with Blogger servers.
Step 4: Add A Records
To make your root domain (without www) work correctly, Blogger requires four A records.
A Record 1
216.239.32.21
A Record 2
216.239.34.21
A Record 3
216.239.36.21
A Record 4
216.239.38.21
After adding these records, your domain will properly point to Blogger servers.
Step 5: Save the Domain Again in Blogger
Now return to Blogger and click Save again.
If everything is configured correctly, your custom domain will connect successfully.
Important Setting You Should Enable
After connecting the domain, make sure you enable the redirect option:
Redirect example.com → www.example.com
This ensures visitors always land on the correct version of your website.
How Long Does Domain Connection Take?
DNS updates usually take a short time to propagate.
- Usually: 5 minutes to 1 hour
- Sometimes: up to 24 hours
Final Thoughts
Connecting a custom domain to Blogger might seem confusing at first, but once you follow the steps carefully, the process becomes very simple.
